Mohujos Restaurant opened in February 2007 and is owned and run by sisters in law Wendy and Helen. Iko, originally from Angola is our head chef with 18 years experience, mostly in Portugal. His specialities include seafood dishes and home made sauces especially his own Piri Piri sauce, which is gorgeous with chicken breast and can add heat and taste to any dish.
At Mohujos we take a great deal of pride in our food and use only the freshest ingredients served to you in a relaxed and friendly environment where traditional background music and decor is a reminder of a recent holiday – you really wouldn’t believe you were in Billingham at times!
Our menu offers a wide range of dishes with the majority of recipes being sourced directly
from Mexico to create an authentic taste and presentation. We aim to use original ingredients wherever possible and use reputable local suppliers for fresh daily supplies.
Our goal is to maintain and constantly improve our quality, presentation and service. We aim
to create an unforgettable experience for our customers, and will embrace any feedback.
Mexican food is extremely diverse and versatile and we have been able to add our own twist of flavour and presentation. Against popular belief Mexican food is not all hot and most of our dishes will suit less robust taste buds, however, we can cater for those who like a bit of fire in their bellies too or even just a bit more spice!!! (Please ask about our Naga Chilli options - if you dare!)
Thursday’s are Tapas nights!
Tapas are small dishes of food that were originally served in bars all over Spain to accompany a drink. At Mohujos, our delicious Tapas are a fusion of original Spanish recipe ideas combined with authentic Mexican flavours and ingredients to produce Tapas with a twist. We recommend ordering a selection to share, washed down with a delicious jug of Mexican Sangria made
with fresh fruit, wine and a selection of spirits.
We invite you to try one of our Mexican beers or Tequilas; straight or with a mixer, for the brave we have our house speciality “Fire Water”. Or maybe you’d prefer an extra cold draft San Miguel, on its own or the Mexican way topped with tequila and lime…delicious!! For those who enjoy a good wine with their meal we have a fine selection of house and speciality wines available. If you can manage to resist our desserts you can finish your meal off with a selection of tasty Mexican style liqueur coffees or maybe enjoy a Margarita cocktail.
Our staff are friendly and helpful and will be able to assist you with your menu and drinks choices. Don’t worry if you don’t see anything you like, have a word with a member of staff, we’ll be happy to come up with something to suit your taste.
Muchas Gracias
